Canyon Uvac Tour

The trip to Uvac takes about four and a half hours, so only a few breaks will be taken without additional stops.

Uvac Canyon and its meanders is a truly unique and magnificent destination in southwestern Serbia. Untouched nature, caves, lakes, endemic plant species, and the last refuge of almost extinct birds – the griffon vulture, are just some of the things you will see during our visit to this natural reserve. 

Uvac Canyon is unique for its many features, one of them being its breach meanders that the river cut into the limestone. Meanders exist in three places in the canyon. The canyon valley of the river Uvac with high and steep cliffs that go up to 350 meters represent the center of the natural reserve. Looking from above, the impression you get is that nature didn’t know which way the river should flow, so the river made these incredible curves. This area is also known for its caves, the most popular being the Icy Cave, which is the most beautiful part of the cave system.

Of course, seeing the true beauty of meanders of Uvac can only be experienced from above. We will be taking a hiking tour to the most famous viewpoint Molitva from which the magnificent view of the canyon can be really taken in. The trail is reached by boat, so after two hours of sightseeing and visiting the caves, we reach the place where the hiking paths to the viewpoint start. The view you will experience is absolutely breathtaking, so people are usually left speechless after they reach the top. We can’t wait for you to be a part of it!

Another truly incredible feature of Uvac Canyon is the fact that this is the nesting place of the griffon vulture. This species of eagles is also named ‘the heavenly king’ due to its imposing size. There are about 500 eagles in the canyon today, but 20 years ago they were almost extinct. This amazing bird has a wingspan of around 3 meters and it can reach up to 11 kg in weight, so seeing them soar in the sky in person would be an unforgettable sight indeed.

After an incredible day of adventure and exploration of the untouched nature, we will stop to have lunch and then head back to Belgrade and our long trip home.
